Community Space

This Wild Space is a community garden created to enhance an unloved area for local residents and for use as an educational space.

Species planted included Ox-eye Daisy, Knapweed, Hawthorn, Buckthorn, Garlic Mustard, Betony and Hedge Bedstraw. A meadow was created by cutting back a hedge to allow more light and seeding with wildflowers including Bird's-foot Trefoil & Marjoram. Stinging nettles provide caterpillar foodplants for Red Admiral and Peacock butterflies with Buckthorn and Garlic Mustard providing foodplants for Brimstone and Orange Tip.
