Our Leeds Wild Spaces Project Officer, Josh Shaw has been working hard across Leeds to provide more opportunities for local people to access, enjoy and learn about the cities butterflies and moths.
In partnership with Leeds City Council seven publicly accessible wildflower meadows created across city parks, totalling more than 2 hectares- local people have also got stuck in helping to make the meadows through seed scattering, plug planting and top soil removal.
More than 35 volunteers signed up with Butterfly Conservation and lots more joined for planting session, one of which featured on ITV news!
Josh has also been busy attending and running free local events across the city- with over 20 free events in four months including online training workshops, butterfly walks, moth and wildflower identification workshops and wildflower plug plant creation.
